Collaboration, Education and Training

Sharing knowledge and information about FASD and effective practices with professionals and families is essential for the creation of environments that can successfully accommodate people affected by FASD.

The Centre provides workshops for professionals and for families of FASD affected children.

TRAINING AND EDUCATION FOR PROFESSIONALS

Training for Multidisciplinary Diagnostic Teams
The Manitoba FASD Centre is currently providing leadership for the Manitoba FASD Network that includes training for coordinators and developing multidisciplinary teams throughout the province. Since 2002 the Centre team has trained 12 FASD diagnostic teams across Canada including teams form Saskatchewan, Ontario, Quebec and New Brunswick (for more information contact Mary Cox Millar at (204) 235-8878).

Workshops for Professionals
Workshops are provided for professional groups who refer and provide ongoing treatment for children and youth prenatally exposed to alcohol. This may include professionals working in child welfare, education, justice and healthcare.
