The Manitoba FASD Centre is committed to the highest quality clinical practice based on current evidence and research. Research furthers the understanding of FASD and effective interventions for caregivers and those working with affected individuals.
The centre collaborates with other researchers and community partners to answer clinical and population-based questions.
Our Research Objectives
- To provide an evidence-based understanding of neurodevelopmental patterns in FASD.
- To link neurodevelopmental patterns to cognitive and behavioural outcomes.
- To evaluate medical and behavioural interventions in FASD of clinical importance to individuals, families and their community.
- To provide evidence that will help shape public health responses and policy development for individuals with FASD.
- To develop research capacity in FASD.
Our dynamic, clinically-based research team regularly meets to share ideas and support in developing clinically important research questions. Our team is also strongly committed to sharing research with others working in the field of FASD and has presented at national and international forums and published our research in peer-reviewed journals.
