Assessment and Diagnosis

FOR SCHOOL-AGE CHILDREN

Comprehensive assessments for school age children are provided by the Centre team consisting of a developmental paediatrician, geneticist, speech and language pathologist, occupational therapist, social worker and psychologist. The Centre’s FASD Educator offers parent education sessions and short term follow-up with parents and schools after the diagnosis.

The school-age assessment may involve three to five one-to-two hour appointments. Any prior assessments completed by the child's school are an important part of this process.
